Bernarda Pera extended her winning streak to 11 matches with a win over Maryna Zanevska and she will face
Anett Kontaveit in the
Hamburg European Open final.
The 27-year-old American lost 5 consecutive matches before arriving in Budapest for the event qualifier. She won a couple of matches to get into the main draw and then produced a superb effort to win her maiden trophy there. She extended that winning streak in Hamburg and by defeating Maryna Zanevska 6-2 6-4, Pera sealed the final.
She's on a 11-match winning streak with a chance to make it 12 in a row against Kontaveit. For Kontaveit this run comes at the perfect time because the Estonian player struggled for a very long time before finally stringing together a couple of wins. She split with her coach Dmitry Tursunov in the meantime as well and it's been a troublesome time for her.
Beating Potapova on clay is not an easy task but Kontaveit passed the test setting up the final. This will be a chance to win her 7th career trophy in her 16th final. The Estonian won their only meeting so far 7-5 6-1 at Wimbledon.
