While Danielle Collins won big and Iga Swiatek continued her World No.1 march, certain other players lost heavily from the Miami Open with the WTA Rankings set to be updated on Monday morning.
Bianca Andreescu is one of those due to inactivity who has slid down even further after last season where she reached the fourth round. She suffered a horrific looking ankle injury after playing some of her best tennis since her return, but was back in Madrid only weeks later in one of the quickest recoveries of the season.
She played on until injury became too much in the latter half of the season and hasn't been seen since the Canadian Open last year. She withdrew from the US Open just before play started and has since aborted attempts to return admitting recently that she has returned to training but only playing practice sets.
She is targeting Roland Garros ut also the Olympic Games which take place before the US Open to return meaning that either clay or grass will be the return of the Canadian former US Open champion. But she has dropped 61 places to World No.219, a career low since emerging in 2018.
Petra Kvitova as expected has fallen down to World No.60. She won Miami last year and is currently expecting her first child. But given her high ranking at the outset of her announcement, she will benefit from a protected ranking when she does return. While as previously reported, Emma Raducanu will have her final drop next week before she can only gain points going down to World No.300 12 spots.
Collins was a big winner in moving into World No.22 after winning the Miami Open. Naomi Osaka too made huge strides going up to World No.192, a 37 place rise when the rankings update. While Yulia Putintseva heads towards the top 50.
