Bianca Andreescu has not enjoyed a great 2021 season so far however the Canadian is feeling much better lately and is ready to go.
It has not been a very good season for Andreescu so far with only one great showing coming early in the year at the Miami Open in Miami. Since then Andreescu has enjoyed several setbacks and injuries that never allowed her to find a good rhythm.
Ahead of the National Bank Open in Montreal, Andreescu spoke about the upcoming swing of events:
“I’m feeling really good after a couple of downs over the last couple of months. But I’m feeling much better now, and ready to go."
For Andreescu this next part of the year is crucial as the Canadian is defending the vast majority of her points won in 2019. Two events that are key are the US Open and the Indian Wells Masters after it. Asked about that she said:
“I don’t want to really look at it as defending the title because that in itself puts a little bit of pressure on me. I kind of just look at it like – I’m the champion, and I want to be the champion again."
Andreescu also touched upon missing the Olympic Games which she admitted was hard. However, she decided to keep her outlook positive aiming to represent Canada in Paris:
“It really sucks that I couldn’t be there [in Tokyo]. But I’m just super happy for everyone that’s doing well at the Olympics this year, and hopefully the next Olympics I’ll be good to go.”
