2019 US Open champion and one of the most successful players of 2019 season, also marked as a newcomer of the year, struggles with injuries again. First she missed the clay part of the 2019 season and then she got injured during the WTA Finals again.
Now, the young Canadian, who also won the Lou Marsh Trophy for the best Canadian sportsperson, announced in the video for ASB Classic social media that she won't be playing in Auckland this year.
In the video statement, she said: "I won't be playing Auckland this year. I am super disappointed about it, but I spoke to my team and I really have to do it. It is best for me right now. I had so many amazing memories there, so hopefully I can create more in 2021."
