Bouchard reveals reason for withdrawing from ASB Classic qualifying: “Got really bad food poisoning Saturday night”

Eugenie Bouchard withdrew from the ASB Classic suddenly and she revealed the reason to be bad food poisoning shiwhc saw her visit the doctor.

Bouchard hasn't been very lucky in the past and it seems like her luck isn't improving that much lately either. As she was getting ready to start her season in Auckland, she got hit with bad food poisoning which forced her to withdraw before her match. She revealed it on social media by posting an Instagram story:

"Got really bad food poisoning Saturday night. Was up all night throwing up. So sad I had to withdraw from my match in Auckland. This is me waiting to see the doc Sunday morning."

She also joked in one of the stories asking whether it was a bad omen that she spent the first 8 hours of the new year clinging to a toilet. She will have to wait at least another week to make a proper start to 2023.
