"Bro thinks he's on the team": Mouratoglou's reaction to Gauff gets hilarious reactions from tennis fans
WTA
Patrick
Mouratoglou shared a congratulatory message for Coco Gauff after her US Open
title and gets hilarious reactions.
The tennis
community couldn't help but notice the irony in Patrick Mouratoglou's
congratulatory message to Coco Gauff after her victory at the 2023 US Open.
Gauff's win
in the final against Aryna Sabalenka, the future world No. 1, marked her first
Grand Slam title. Despite convincingly losing the first set, the 19-year-old
American displayed remarkable resilience and came back strongly to claim a 2-6,
6-3, 6-2 victory in a little over two hours.
With this
triumph, Gauff became the tenth teenager in history to win the women's title at
the US Open. She also made history as the first American teenage champion at
the US Open since Serena Williams achieved the feat in 1999 at the age of 17.
Patrick
Mouratoglou, who briefly worked with Coco Gauff during the 2023 French Open,
shared a congratulatory message on social media expressing his immense pride in
the 19-year-old's impressive victory.
However,
some fans couldn't help but perceive the irony in Mouratoglou's
congratulations, considering his extensive collaboration with Serena Williams.
The French
coach posted on Twitter.
"COCO!
Just incredibly proud of her," Mouratoglou posted.
Here are some reactons from fans on Twitter:
"Proud of Coco Gauff, her parents, team, and Brad Gilbert ! Patrick, do you wake up at 3am, like Brad Gilbert?"
"Bro thinks he’s on the team"
"Of course YOU are here…"
"No one asked gurl"
"Thankfully you were not part of the team. Maybe help Simona clear her name"
