Tennis star Ons Jabeur came one match shy of winning her maiden Grand Slam title at this year's Wimbledon, and retired ATP pro Andy Roddick shared his sympathy with the Tunisian after her heartbreaking loss.
Jabeur fell to Marketa Vondrousova in the women's singles final, and appeared devastated after the loss. The 28-year old held back tears during her post-match speech, as this was the second consecutive year where she'd finished runner-up at SW 19.
Roddick offers sympathy and expresses faith in Jabeur
Former World No.1 Roddick, who himself had fallen short to Roger Federer in the Wimbledon on more than one occasion, was quick to send condolences to Jabeur after her performance.
“I sent her a message after the final & said ‘If you ever want to chat, I’ve been where you are now. But I have more faith in you winning Wimbledon than I ever had in myself winning it.’ She’s someone I really hope wins a Grand Slam one day,” said Roddick.
