The plot thickens when it comes to Camila Giorgi with the Italian finally confirming her retirement a week later amid reports back home in Italy that she is on the run from tax authorities and has fled to the US.
Reports emerged on Saturday that Giorgi who suddenly turned up on the ITIA list of retired players earlier this week had fled to the US after owing money to the tax authorities after not filing paperwork. She also has her trial in July for her supposed fake COVID vaccination which she is due to attend.
But she has since said in her statement that recent rumours are 'inaccurate' in terms of her future plans likely addressing the situation reported back home. But reports were correct that she is retiring. Others though have said that she plans to become a lingerie model which seems wide of the mark. She was last seen on the tour back in March and was thumped by Iga Swiatek before seemingly packing the sport in. She has remained silent priorly to this point hardly posting on social media which has furthered the speculation.
