Casper Ruud praises Iga Swiatek Swiatek for Ostrava Open gesture

Casper Ruud has praised Iga Swiatek for her gesture after losing in the Ostrava Open final to Krejcikova, donating all her prize money to mental health organisations.

Swiatek has been open about her struggles with motivation and doubt and various different problems for which she hired a sports psychologist. The work the duo did is visible in the results Swiatek has been able to achieve this year and it's a long list.

She announced it while accepting the runner-up trophy explaining that it's important to raise awareness about mental health pledging to donate all her prize money towards Polish organizations working on it. Casper Ruud praised her for her effort on Instagram writing:

"Wow Iga Swiatek, thank you for raising awareness to the world mental health day today."

It's not the first time she has done something like this as she did in Indian Wells as well saying then:

"It's important to raise awareness in terms of looking for help and support if we need it. It's a sign of strength and wisdom, not weakness. As Michael Phelps wrote today" It's OK not to be OK."
