America’s young tennis star
Coco Gauff shared a note from a fan
on social media who ended up paying for her meal after a heartbreaking defeat
in
Indian Wells.
The 20-year-old is often regarded as one of the most
highly-rated players currently playing in the women’s singles category. She
lived up to the hype last year when she lifted the US Open after beating the
current world number two Aryna Sabalenka in the final with a score of 2-6, 6-3,
6-2.
Gauff recently took part in the WTA 1000 event in Indian
Wells where she was knocked out of the competition after losing in the semifinal
to Greece’s Maria Sakkari with a score of 6-4, 6-7, 6-2.
Gauff in a post, shared a note from a fan in a social media
post who paid for her meal after the result to cheer her up after the result.
“Coco, thanks for being an amazing role model! You were one
heck of a fighter tonight. We sure love you! Love the Rowley family from Utah,”
it read.
The result would have been very disappointing for Gauff as
this is the second time this year she failed to win in the semifinal of a mega-event.
Earlier in the Australian
Open, Gauff was knocked out after losing to Belarus’ Sabalenka in the semifinal
in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-4.
