America’s young tennis star
Coco Gauff has jokingly picked
Italy’s
Jannik Sinner ahead of the Big Three in the recent interaction with
Australia’s Nick Kyrgios.
The first Grand Slam of the year is set to begin in less than
48 hours in Melbourne where players from all over the world will participate
and battle it out to secure the ultimate prize.
Players are putting their hard yards on the court in order
to get ready for the test ahead of them and Gauff is doing no different.
During one of her training sessions, the 19-year-old was
asked by Kyrgios who she would rather practice with out of current world number
one Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, Spain’s legendary Rafael Nadal, former world number
Switzerland’s Roger Federer or Sinner who was practicing on the court that
time.
In response to that, the reigning US Open champions jokingly
responded by saying: “Well he’s right here so… (giggling)… Jannik.”
Gauff will be starting the mega-event as one of the favourites,
especially after lifting the last Grand Slam played on hard court in New York
where she defeated the current world number two Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka in the
final with a score of 2–6, 6–3, 6–2.
