Following her stunning win over Iga Swiatek at the 2025 Madrid Open, Coco Gauff believes there is still a lot more to come in her rivalry with the Polish superstar.
The American tennis phenom defeated Swiatek for the first time on clay last Thursday, recording an impressive 6-1 6-1 victory over the defending champion. This was Gauff's third straight win over the former World No.1, with Swiatek yet to win a set in all three meetings.

Gauff looking forward to more showdowns with Swiatek

Prior to their last meeting in the semifinals of the 2024 French Open, the duo had faced each other on 12 occasions, with Swiatek holding a lopsided 11-1 lead. However, Gauff appears to have figured out how to combat the five-time Grand Slam champion, and believes they will have numerous more epic matches given their young ages.
"I cannot believe Iga & I played each other this many times (15)," said Gauff in her post-match conference. "I’m 21, she’s 23, we’re so young & we both at least have, like, 10 more years in this game.
"I feel like we’re going to end up having the record for most times playing against each other ever in tennis history."
The record for most meetings on the WTA currently sits at 80 matches, shared between Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova, with the latter winning 43 of those encounters. The iconic rivalry between Serena Williams and Venus Williams saw the siblings square off on 31 occasions, with Serena winning 19 of them.
