Coco Gauff is the latest high profile name out of the Tokyo
Olympic Games only days before the tournament is due to take place.
Gauff was announced as part of a strong American team including Jennifer Brady and Jessica Pegula who were set to head to Japan but the 17-year-old who was set for her first Olympic Games tested positive for Covid-19.
She announced the news on her social media with her disappointment evident in her statement (below).
"I am so disappointed to share the news that I have tested positive for COVID and won't be able to play in the Olympic Games in Tokyo. It has always been a dream of mine to represent the USA at the Olympics, and I hope there will be many more chances for me to make this come true in the future," she said.
"I want to wish Team USA the best of luck and a safe games for every Olympian and the entire Olympic family."
