Kazakhstan’s tennis star Elena Rybakina and the current world number one Iga Swiatek have shown incredible consistency in the last 15 months.
Both are rated amongst the best in the women’s singles category and are currently taking part in the Qatar Open where they will be going up against each other.
After reaching the final in Doha, Rybakina and Swiatek are two players in the women’s singles category to reach the most WTA 1000 finals since 2023. They have now reached the grand finale of such events on four different occasions. Underneath you find the article with our full preview.
Rybakina booked her place in the final of the mega-event after defeating Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the semifinal with a score of 6-2, 6-4.
On the other hand, Swiatek booked her place in the final after being awarded a walkover against Czech Republic’s Karolina Pliskova.
This will be the fourth meeting between the two players at the highest level. In those meetings, surprisingly, Rybakina has a better record as she won on three occasions compared to just one win of Swiatek.
In the last meeting between the two which took place in May last year in Rome, it was Rybakina who came out on top as Swiatek had to retire in the third set.
