Petra Kvitova lamented WTA scheduling which once again came under fire during the
China Open after she finished late on in a thriller against Wang Xiyu.
Kvitova played both her opening two matches with very little time apart with multiple first-round matches still pending meaning that it had to be rushed through.
She looked visibly drained as she took on Liudmila Samsonova and battled exhaustion after a three-hour thriller. She called the WTA to do better. She mooted that there needed to be a fairer solution in order to solve similar issues.
"Far from ideal to finish my match at the @ChinaOpen, at 1am and then be back on the schedule at NB 5:30pm the next day when some first round matches had yet to be played. I have always played the sport with huge respect and rarely speak out, but this time I feel strongly…" Kvitova wrote on Twitter.
""Enough to say that there *has* to have been a fairer option. Please do better for your players @WTA," she concluded.
