After withdrawing from the
French Open and skipping
Wimbledon due to her social anxiety concerning press conferences, it seems that the detractors of
Naomi Osaka still have their doubts over her sincerity concerning her mental health issues.
Conservative pundit Megyn Kelly was responding to a tweet by Clay Travis, a fellow conservative sports analyst.
"Since saying she’s too introverted to talk to the media after tennis matches, Naomi Osaka has launched a reality show, a Barbie, and now is on the cover of the SI swimsuit issue," Travis tweeted.
Kelly would go on to respond to the tweet, bringing up Osaka's recent endeavors with Vogue and Time Magazine.
"Let’s not forget the cover of (& interview in) Vogue Japan and Time Mag!" Kelly added.
The news must have reached Osaka, as the Japanese superstar took to Twitter to fire back at Kelly, even going as far as stating that the magazine issues were produced well before her break.
"Seeing as you’re a journalist I would’ve assumed you would take the time to research what the lead times are for magazines, if you did that you would’ve found out I shot all of my covers last year," Osaka said. "Instead your first reaction is to hop on here and spew negativity, do better Megyn."
The World No.2 will be representing Japan at the Tokyo
Olympic games this summer, with the tennis event running from July 24-August 1 2021.
