Iga Swiatek has won three times at Roland Garros during her short but dominant career so far and Barbara Schett has backed her to do the double next Summer when it gets to Paris.
That double being the Olympic Games and Roland Garros as she looks to emulate Andy Murray in that regard albeit in going one better and winning both, a comparison Schett made to Eurosport.
Murray famously won the Olympic Gold medal on home soil in 2012 defeating Roger Federer 6-2, 6-1, 6-4. However, four weeks prior, he just fell short of the title at Wimbledon. He suffered defeat to the king of grass at that point in Federer and narrowly missed the opportunity to claim the double. But given the utter prowess of Swiatek on clay, she will go in as favorite to do both when it rolls around albeit unlike Murray's charge, there will be a longer turnaround time with the Olympic Games just before the US Open.
"It reminds me a little bit of Andy Murray when the Olympics were in London, in Wimbledon, and he's done well. I think she's [Swiatek] going to embrace that," Schett said.
"Imagine if she could win the French Open and the Olympics at Roland Garros? That would be incredible. And I think that's something which is on her radar. I think that's something she would like to achieve as well," she continued.
