The draw has been set for the Copa Colsanitas Bogota which will take place between March 31 - April 6, 2025 as the first stop in the new clay court season after the Miami Open.
Albeit it has been very unpublicised in comparison to the Charleston Open which will take place next week. Perhaps due to a lesser field on offer this time around albeit both finalists return.
Camila Osorio who won the title on home soil last year will return. She saw off Marie Bouzkova in 2024 6-3, 7-6(2) to seal the title. Both are playing with the Czech star being top seed in Bogota.
As well as Bouzkova, it is mainly players top 50 and below who are involved giving a bit of a poor field. Alycia Parks is the next highest ranked at 59th. While Emiliana Arango also carries home hopes as fourth seed.
Tatjana Maria who won the title two years on the spin also returns. She is sixth seed with Laura Siegemund also involved. Sara Sorribes Tormo and Cristina Bucsa finalise the top eight seeds.
Bouzkova will open against a qualifier then potentially Nuria Parrizas Diaz. Laura Siegemund is the likely seed standing in her way in the Quarter-Finals. While a home tie is upon us between Osorio and Mariana Isabel Higuita Barraza who has taken a wildcard.
It could be back to back home ties as she faces potentially Maria Torres Murcia albeit Emina Bektas is her first opponent. Maria faces Chloe Paquet. While one of the ties of the opening round will see Alycia Parks face Iva Jovic.
Jovic at 17 is one of the brightest stars on the tour aiming to make her way. She received a wildcard for the 2024 US Open and saw off Magda Linette becoming the youngest American to win a women's main-draw match at the US Open since 2000.
She then played the Australian Open losing to Elena Rybakina. But opening wins seem to be her thins as she saw off Julia Grabher in three sets at Indian Wells. Shte then lost to Jasmine Paolini. With a more open field in Bogota, it can be a blessing or a curse. Either she will surge through or lose earlier, Parks is perhaps one of the poorer draws for someone aiming to do the former.
