Kazakh tennis star Elena Rybakina has achieved another milestone, as she will be making her debut at the year-ending WTA Finals for the first time in her young career.
The 24-year old stormed to the Wimbledon title last year, and has been one of the most in-form players on tour since capturing her maiden Grand Slam title. The Kazakhstani followed this with two WTA 1000 titles during the first half of the 2023 season, lifting trophies in Indian Wells and Rome.
Despite being unable to defend her Wimbledon title due to a quarterfinal loss, Rybakina still produced excellent results. The Kazakhstani reached a career-high of World No.3, and garnered enough points at the Canadian Open where she reached the semifinals and a third-round appearance at the US Open. This was enough to see her clinch qualification for the WTA Finals, a tournament that features the top 8 players on the WTA circuit duking it out for the prestigious title.
