Elina Svitolina made a huge splash last week in Strasbourg winning the event and now she's back to winning ways at
Roland Garros as well beating last year's semi-finalist Trevisan in two sets 6-2 6-2.
Martina Trevisan is looking at a major drop in rankings following an early exit in Paris this year. She made it all the way to the semi-final last year and now all of those points are gone thanks to Elina Svitolina who proved much better than her in their match. The Ukranina found form last week in Strasbourg and now extended her winning streak by another match.
Svitolina Looking Strong
The winner of this match was never really in doubt as Svitolina established herself as the better player pretty early on. Trevisan didn't look as good as she normally does on clay and it might have something to do with her retirement last week in Rabat due to an injury. There is a good chance that she's not fully fit.
Svitolina on the other hand is playing her best tennis since returning this year and she dominated this matchup. There is no other way to put it. She had more aces than Trevisan, she had more winners than the Italian and fewer errors as well. What's even more impressive is that she didn't face a single break point in the entire match which is remarkable for Clay.
Baseline Dominance
Trevisan largelry plays from the baseline using her lefty to do a lot of damage in rallies. Svitolina completely took that away outplaying the Italian from the baseline. Trevisan not being ablet to find the court in most of those rallies certainly helped Svitolina in getting this huge win for her. She's back and will be a factor in the draw now.
