Katie Boulter starred in the second match of their
Billie Jean King Cup Quarter-Final against Canada dethroning the defending champions and making some think why not Great Britain.
Why not indeed with a fearsome tandem in singles in Boulter and
Emma Raducanu, the latter of whom has been bringing out her best tennis for this tournament. Other countries still involved often only have one good singles player and rely on doubles but Olivia Nicholls and Heather Watson have not been needed yet.
Raducanu put them into a superb position early seeing off Rebecca Marino 6-0, 7-5 to set up Boulter to face Leylah Fernandez and she continued her late season form. The duo were seen embracing in a shot that cameras were quick to get and the love for Raducanu was clear from Boulter.
"Emma makes it really easy for me to come out and have a swing," said Boulter.
"I really wanted to come out and have a go at the defending champs. I'm really pleased with myself."
But they're not here to make up the numbers either with Boulter saying that as long as they keep believing, they can do anything. "I definitely wouldn't be here if I didn't believe we could win the tournament," continued Boulter.
"We've always got a great chance. We're going to keep believing, keep trusting it, and keep enjoying it.
"I don't think there is any pressure. We're just enjoying ourselves."
Captain Anne Keothavong is also quick not to heap too much pressure on or get too far ahead of the curve with this Britain team but she is optimistic and in it to win it.
"We're not looking too far ahead," said Keothavong.
"Myself and all the other staff members are doing our best to instil the belief that the players, this team, can do it.
"We're in it to win it. I've got every bit of faith and belief in the players."
