America’s tennis star
Emma Navarro has been in the news for
all the right reasons. The 22-year-old has once again grabbed the headlines with
the recent post by the
Indian Wells account on social media.
The official account of the tournament posted statistics
about Navarro about how she has become the player with the most wins on the WTA
Tour in 2024, even more than the likes of the current world number one Iga
Swiatek. That post, however, was deleted by the handle.
Checking the official record, it becomes clear that Navarro has
won 17 matches but she is not the only one to achieve that feat. Elena Rybakina
of Kazakhstan has also won 17 matches this season, that too with playing two
games fewer than the 22-year-old.
Navarro, who is currently the world number 23 in the women’s
singles category, is currently taking part in the WTA 1000 event -- Indian
Wells -- where she has already booked her place in the fourth round after beating Ukraine’s
Elina Svitolina in the round of 32 with a score of 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
Navarro will now face the current world number two Belarus’ Aryna
Sabalenka in the round of 16 of the competition on Wednesday.
