The
Transylvania Open begins tomorrow and one of the game's most exciting players
Emma Raducanu arrived in Romania for the event.
The Transylvania Open will begin tomorrow and the WTA 250 event will be a good one with several notable players attending. Simona Halep is the biggest name in the draw but besides Halep, another player with ties to Romania will garner most of the interest. Emma Raducanu will play in her father's country for the first time professionally and the Brit received a warm welcome upon arriving in Cluj-Napoca.
The event shared a photo of Raducanu upon arrival on their official Twitter page and it shows the Brit in very good spirits after arriving in Romania. Regrettably, Raducanu won't be able to enjoy Romanian fan support as the event had to barre fans from attending due to a recent spike in COVID-19 cases in the country. For Raducanu this will be the first event since the Indian Wells Masters where she suffered a 1st round loss.
Her campaign will kick off against Polona Hercog who is a capable tennis player who can make your day miserable so Raducanu will need to be on the top of her game. There is little pressure for her to do well so it will be interesting to see just how well she does. The conditions should favor her aggressive play.
