The draw has been released for the 2021 WTA Transylvania Open which is due to take place between October 25-31, 2021.
A tournament which is headlined by Emma Raducanu and Simona Halep, with the former having Romanian heritage, while the latter of course being on home soil after returning in Moscow losing to Maria Sakkari in the latter stages.
Raducanu will face Polona Hercog in the first round, while Halep will take on first time WTA winner this year and fellow Romanian, Elena-Gabriela Ruse who she teamed with in doubles at Indian Wells.
Initially the line-up was set to include Garbine Muguruza, Paula Badosa and Ekaterina Alexandrova but all three have withdrawn among seven names.
Anett Kontaveit who is in the final of Moscow alongside Alexandrova will still play in Cluj-Napoca seemingly after being drawn to face a qualifier.
But the aforementioned trio include two players who are not now chasing ranking points for WTA Finals meaning they have withdrawn ahead of Guadalajara in a few weeks.
