Emma Raducanu’s next competition has been revealed. The 22-year-old, who was once regarded as the next big thing, has had a poor start to the 2025 season, during which she suffered some serious defeats.
She was knocked out of the first Grand Slam of the year—the Australian Open—after losing in the third round to world number two Iga Swiatek in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. After that, things deteriorated further. She lost in the opening round of the Singapore Open to Spain’s Cristina Bucșa, 5-7, 7-5, 7-5.
She was then knocked out in the first round of the Abu Dhabi Open, losing to Marketa Vondrousova in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Most recently, Raducanu suffered another major setback as she was knocked out in the first round of the Qatar Open by Ekaterina Alexandrova in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5.
The former world number 10 will now have her eyes set on the upcoming event in Dubai. She will be competing in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. The development was also confirmed by the English media outlet Daily Express.
Raducanu will be hoping that the event in Dubai provides her with an opportunity to regain some form after a series of disappointing results in the recent past.
Raducanu broke onto the scene in 2021 when she lifted the US Open at the age of 18. The most impressive aspect of Raducanu’s success in that tournament was that she started from the qualifying round and went on to win the title, defeating Canada’s Leylah Fernandez in the final in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
