British tennis star Emma Raducanu has given fans a behind-the-scenes look at her training regimen, which she employs to keep herself in top shape when competing against the best on the WTA tour.
Raducanu underwent three surgeries last year, which saw her sidelined for most of the season. The 21-year old is slowly trying to return to form, with her latest exploit on tour seeing her lose last week in the opening round of the 2024 Qatar Open.
The 2021 US Open champion opened up on her training program, and revealed her day during the season often begins with her waking up at 6am, followed by physio and then two separate tennis training sessions.
"Typically, I start my day with physio doing muscle activation work to warm the body up," said Raducanu in an interview with Bazaar. "Then I warm up for half an hour, play tennis for 90 minutes, have an hour gym session, then break for lunch for around 90 mins.
“After lunch, I go on court for another two hours and finish with an hour of treatment. It's quite a lot but not much beats the satisfaction you get from it at the end of the day."
