Emma Raducanu's doubles debut in Washington ends with a round one exit

Emma Raducanu made her doubles debut at the Citi Open in Washington and she and Tauson lost their match 4-6 1-6 to Hradecka and Niculescu.
It was an interesting experiment for Raducanu who looked quite sharp at times but the Brit was largely unable to impose herself on the doubles matchup. She and Tauson never played together and it showed, especially because they faced experienced doubles players.
Right from the start, the youngsters were overmatched by Hradecka and Niculescu who took an early lead. They would hold that lead for the majority of the set but Raducanu and Tauson were able to break back towards the end of the set.
At 4-5, they had a chance to make it 5-5 but failed to win their service games as Hradecka and Niculescu took the opening set 6-4. The 2nd set was also a competitive one but the score would not believe you so. Raducanu and Tauson lost it 1-6 but they battled in the majority of the games. It was only 10 minutes shorter than the first set who had 3 more games.
Overall a solid experience for Raducanu who will probably stick to singles for now.
