2024 San Diego Open will take place from February 26th to March 3rd and has released its entry list featuring prominent figures such as Jessica Pegula, Marta Kostyuk, Paula Badosa, and Leylah Fernandez. The tournament will not feature the 2023 champion Barbora Krejcikova or the 2022 champion Iga Swiatek.
For the participants, this will be their last tournament before the start of the 'sunshine double' with the WTA 1000 Indian Wells and Miami Open as the next major challenges. Therefore, most of the top-10 players will not be in competition that week.
The main draw of the 2024 San Diego Open promises exciting matchups, featuring world No. 4 Jessica Pegula as the top seed, followed by former French Open finalist Karolina Muchova (No. 10), and Brazilian talent Beatriz Haddad Maia (No. 13). Emma Navarro (No. 23) completes the top four seeds, all of whom will receive byes in the first round.
Adding to the tournament's allure are players who achieved notable success in the recent Australian Open, elevating both their performance levels and rankings. Among them are Ukrainian youngsters Marta Kostyuk (No. 28), who reached the quarterfinals in Melbourne, and Dayana Yastremska (No. 29), a semifinalist.
Fans can also anticipate captivating matches featuring former Grand Slam finalists Leylah Fernandez and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, 2022 San Diego runner-up Donna Vekic, and former world No. 2 Paula Badosa, currently unranked but a force to be reckoned with.
