With Emma Navarro withdrawing from this week's Ningbo Open, the
WTA Finals line-up is set with the Entry List now confirmed led by
Aryna Sabalenka, defending champion
Iga Swiatek and
Coco Gauff.
Sabalenka leads the way by far and will likely attain World No.1 status in a Year End battle with Swiatek. Gauff is third in the standings finishing ahead of
Jasmine Paolini who in reality could be an injury doubt after pulling out of Ningbo this week. As well as Elena Rybakina who is fifth in the race having not played since the US Open and even then only played a smattering of times before that.
Rybakina had a superb year up until that point showing how good she played. But in reality she could be a doubt in herself due to the lack of game time and also injury and illness concerns.
Jessica Pegula and Qinwen Zheng end the main line-up. The poor form of Emma Navarro in recent weeks and the upturn for Qinwen Zheng has led to the Chinese ace usurping her for that spot. As a result the American will now be first alternate.
Barbora Krejcikova qualified in the final spot. She is Wimbledon champion and the caveat is that she'd get a spot if she finished within the top 20 which she did. Paula Badosa and Daria Kasatkina are likely to also go as alternates due to the fact that Danielle Collins is seemingly still injured and seemingly will have her farewell at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.
