The Entry List for the 2025 Qatar Open has been confirmed. The WTA 1000 tournament will take place from February 10 to 16 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex on outdoor hardcourts, featuring a star-studded draw led by Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, and Coco Gauff.
This will be the 23rd edition of the tournament, with world No. 2 Swiatek returning as the defending champion after defeating Elena Rybakina in a thrilling final (7-6, 6-2). Both players will compete in a singles draw of 56 players, although the tournament will see a couple of key top-15 absences.
The first WTA 1000 event of the season finally arrives in Doha, offering a $3,654,963 prize for the champion. The tournament will feature nine of the top-10 players, with Madison Keys being the only absentee. This allows world No. 9 Emma Navarro to be seeded and receive a first-round bye.
Following the Australian Open, this will be a crucial opportunity for top players to gain points early in the season, with three more WTA 1000 events lined up in February and March. Sabalenka, absent in 2024, has played this event twice before, boasting a 7-1 record and claiming the title in 2020. She enters as one of the top favourites alongside defending champion Swiatek.
World No. 3 Coco Gauff arrives in Doha in good form after reaching the Australian Open quarter-finals. Despite an "early" exit for a title contender (losing 5-7, 4-6 to Badosa), she extended her winning streak to 11 matches, including victories at the United Cup and WTA Finals.
World No. 5 Elena Rybakina faces a significant points defence as last year's finalist. The Kazakh player had a strong start to 2024, and Doha will be crucial for maintaining her top-5 position. Meanwhile, Jasmine Paolini (No. 4) and Jessica Pegula (No. 6) aim to bounce back after early third-round exits at the Australian Open.
Other seeded players include Zheng Qinwen (No. 7), who suffered a major ranking setback after failing to defend her Australian Open final, and Emma Navarro, who lost to Rybakina in last year's third round.
A total of 13 top-15 players will compete, with notable absences from Americans Madison Keys (No. 7), the recent Australian Open champion, and Danielle Collins (No. 12), both withdrawing due to injury. Check out the full entry list below.
