Eugenie Bouchard has signed up to play at the
Transylvania Open in Cluj soon as the WTA 250 event runs from October 8th till October 16th.
The event will be a very strong one as more than 30 players from the WTA 100 signed up to play at the event and Bouchard will play with them. She's not ranked inside the top 100 but got a wild card into the qualifying draw where she will have a chance to book a spot in the main draw.
Transylvania Open tournament director Patrick Ciorcila said:
“We are thrilled to welcome one of the most popular players in the circuit. Eugenie Bouchard is coming to Cluj after serious injuries, and she is very determined to return to the highest places in the WTA rankings, where she surely belongs. Genie reached out to us, and we were pleased to offer her a Wild Card for the Qualifying Draw, which thus becomes much more attractive. She will surely make her mark on this year’s edition of our tournament."
The Canadian recently made her return to the tour after a year-long battle with injuries. She joins Krejcikova and Raducanu among others at the event.
