Iga Swiatek grew up idolizing Rafael Nadal and while the Spaniard was her favourite player she is still amazed by Federer.
Any tennis player who knows and plays the sport is amazed by Roger Federer and the sort of career he was able to put together. Not only that but his general style of play, one that has been called the most beautiful tennis ever played is something that stuck with Swiatek as well.
Swiatek paid tribute to Federer immediately after his retirement announcement writing on Twitter:
"I just want to thank you for everything you've done and everything you are for our sport. It's been a privilege to witness your career. I wish you all the best."
In another interview with Eurosport, she expanded on that by saying she will try to emulate the smoothness of his tennis:
"Roger is a class in itself, in terms of movement, technique and how it behaves outside the court. I am generally impressed by the smoothness of his movements and how majestic he looks. These are things that I admire immensely, but I don't know if I will be able to introduce them to my game myself. I will try, but we will see."
