Former World No. 1 Chris Evert believes America’s young
tennis sensation
Coco Gauff must continue working with the former coach of Andre
Agassi, Brad Gilbert.
The 19-year-old has recently won the Citi DC Open after beating
Greece’s Maria Sakkari in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-3.
Talking about the recent performances of Gauff, Evert, in a
post on her official Twitter account, stated that the youngster must carry on with
an experienced coach like Gilbert as she looked more relaxed.
"Smart move! She also looked more relaxed last week,”
she Tweeted.
Gauff and Gilbert started working on a week-long basis before
the competition in Washington which turned out to be successful and therefore, it should not make anyone surprise if the duo remains together for
the upcoming US Open which is set to begin in less than 20 days’ time.
Gauff will be hoping that her recent success will help her in
finally achieving her first Grand Slam when she will take the court in New York
later this month.
The Atlanta-born has never played in the semifinal or beyond
at the US Open. Her best outing was playing in the quarterfinal last year where
she was defeated by Caroline Garcia of France in straight sets with a score of
6-3, 6-4.
