Czech Republic’s tennis star
Karolina Pliskova believes that
the toughest part of facing the world number one
Iga Swiatek is that she never
gives away any free points.
The two are set to clash in the second round of the Omnium
Banque Nationale Canadian Open on Wednesday.
Talking about it before the encounter, the 31-year-old
stated that the current top-ranked player is extremely hard to play against because
of committing very few errors.
"She can really make you feel, like, not lost, but I
mean, she doesn't give you many free points,” she said. "You have to find
that balance between playing risky, aggressive, but not too risky, not too much.
“Because then [Swiatek's] not going to give you many points.
Of course, that's going to be the most difficult part, to find what is too much
and what is not enough."
Pliskova defeated China’s Zhu Lin in the first round of the competition
with a score of 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 to book her place in the next round.
On the other hand, Swiatek will be playing her first match
in the competition as she qualified straight to the second round.
