After changing the format in the Fed Cup, 16 teams will fight for 8 spots in the Fed Cup final. The qualifiers will join the four teams that already have a seat in the Final in Budapest.
2020 Fed Cup Final will be held on 14-19 April in Budapest, Hungary. 4 nations have their place in the final secured, while another 16 have to fight for it. 2020 Fed Cup Finalists include last year's finalists Australia and France. Host country Hungary and also the Czech Republic, which received a wild card.
ITF President David Haggerty said: “Today’s draw is the start of a new chapter for Fed Cup by BNP Paribas and it is very exciting that 20 teams will begin next season with the chance to be crowned Fed Cup champions. The Qualifiers will be the first step on the road to Budapest and I am sure that this will be evident from the passion on display from both players and fans at the eight ties. I would like to wish all nations competing in the Qualifiers the best of luck.”
