Former Australian Open finalist Jennifer Brady is set to return
to professional tennis after a lengthy injury layoff.
The 28-year-old has missed a lot of action in the last two
years because of fitness concerns. Her last outing on the court in a
professional tennis match was back in 2021.
But there is good news for Brady fans who will now be able
to see their star player in action on the tennis court in the ITF Canada 03A competition
where she will face Japan’s Kyōka Okamura on Monday.
The Harrisburg-born has an impressive record in the women’s singles
category where she has already played in the final of Grand Slam back in 2021 in
Melbourne.
However, she ended on the wrong side of the result after losing to Japan’s
Naomi Osaka in straight sets with a score of 6–4, 6–3.
Other than that, Brady also played in the semifinal of the
US Open back in 2020 where she once again lost to Osaka in three sets with a
score of 7-6, 3-6, 6-3.
Brady will be hoping that her return will be fruitful as she
will be eying to replicate or even better her past performances.
