Former World No.1
Ana Ivanovic had a Q&A session on Twitter and admitted her admiration in particular for
Iga Swiatek of the current crop.
Ivanovic walked away in December 2016 from the sport after getting married and then having three kids with her latest born in May 2023.
No desire to come back unlike Caroline Wozniacki, she still does keep her eye on tennis though seemingly with Swiatek on top of her list as a superb 'all court player'.
She has shown that she has the skills to be that after opening up her Wimbledon campaign over Lin Zhu and will face Sara Sorribes Tormo later on Wednesday.
"My favorite active tennis player is @iga_swiatek as i think she is really a all court player!" she tweeted.
But what comes to her mind as her own personal favourite match? It was her 2007 Roland Garros semi-final win over Maria Sharapova.
This saw her win 6-2, 6-1 in emphatic fashion before falling to Justine Henin in the final.
"There were few of my favorite matches, but one that comes to my mind is the 2007 @rolandgarros semi-final against Maria #Sharapova," she responded.
She was also asked whether husband, Bastian Schweinsteiger, a former footballer who played for Bayern Munich and Manchester United was getting better at tennis.
"It's getting better and better, but we still need a lot of training," she commented.
