After saying goodbye to the sport she loves last year, French tennis player Alize Cornet is set for a comeback following a short retirement.
The 35-year old announced her retirement during the 2024 season in April, with her last professional tournament coming at the French Open a month later in front of home fans. Cornet received a wildcard to the Grand Slam event, where she lost to China's Qinwen Zheng in the first round.
After a brief stint away from the sport, it appears Cornet is ready to make a comeback. The former World No.11 will be returning to tennis competition in April at the Rouen Open, a WTA 250 event that takes place in Rouen, France from April 14-20, 2025. The clay court event often features several clay specialists, with former Grand Slam champion Sloane Stephens prevailing at last year's edition.
During her time away from tennis, Cornet has kept busy. The 2022 Australian Open quarterfinalist competed on the French version of the television show, The Traitors, which is scheduled to air later next month.
