Eva Lys has had a superb season becoming the German No.1 and reaching the fourth round at the Australian Open as a lucky loser and it seems like
Emma Raducanu's sponsorship with the brand has even bigger of an indication that it has ended.
Raducanu is absent this week in Stuttgart and wasn't given a wildcard for the tournament despite in prior years being a Porsche Ambassador since winning the US Open. Albeit the writing was perhaps on the wall when her car given to her by the brand was recalled.
Albeit both said there was nothing fractious about this happening albeit Raducanu originally was signed up to play Rouen this week instead before withdrawing to have a training block. With Lys now getting the partnership with the brand, it begins a new era for her as the top German women's tennis player and at 23 further room to grow.
She is making her second appearance in the tournament after being beaten by Iga Swiatek in 2022 and it was announced that she has joined the Pole as an ambassador. She plays against Jasmine Paolini on Tuesday.
‟I’m incredibly honored to join the Porsche family – a brand that embodies so many things that I love: performance, precision, and elegance”, says Eva Lys as per
Porsche. ‟As I continue to push the limits on court, it’s great to be supported by a company that shares the same drive for excellence.”
‟Porsche has been closely connected tenniswise with Eva Lys for years now. She has matured within the Porsche junior teams into a fabulous player both on and off the court. Her successes have deservedly made her Germany’s No. 1,” says Dr. Sebastian Rudolph, Vice President Communications, Sustainability and Politics at Porsche AG. ‟We’re delighted that Eva Lys will now be competing as a Friend of the Brand. We will be keeping our fingers crossed for her at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.”
