The schedule is set and Day Two of the 2025 WTA Stuttgart Open (Porsche Tennis Grand Prix) is here as more leading names come into the fray in Germany including Jasmine Paolini, Emma Navarro and Donna Vekic.
Yesterday saw Diana Shnaider win a marathon tie with Veronika Kudermetova past midnight local time in just over two hours. While prior to that Anastasia Potapova edged Clara Tauson and Elise Mertens saw off Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
Potapova now faces Aryna Sabalenka in the Last 16. While Mertens has set up a meeting with Shnaider. They will face each other in that section.
Today sees mainly the middle section of the draw with mainly home hopes attracting the attention but it is former Roland Garros champion, Jelena Ostapenko up first as she takes on Dayana Yastremska in what is a rough draw in terms of getting a qualifier.
Ostapenko could yet set up another meeting with Iga Swiatek who will hope to finally figure out the puzzle that is the Latvian after not being able to up to now. Swiatek herself though will have to get through the winner of the next game though to make that happen as she faces the winner of an all Croat tie.
Donna Vekic is the trailblazer for the country and Jana Fett no doubt will want a win for compatriot pride and to get one over their Number One. Vekic has had a poor season since her 2024 breakout. She went from the best season of her life to only really winning games at Indian Wells.
Otherwise as even the week after proved against Rebeka Masarova has been first round exits. So Fett will know that Vekic is there to be got at. Then it is the section of the home hopes.
Jule Niemeier will face Laura Siegemund. Both of whom have got wildcard and sit in a section with five Germans. Tatjana Maria v Ella Seidel won't be played today but sits in Coco Gauff's eyeline. it is Jasmine Paolini who is in the sights of this section.
The Italian defends a Roland Garros final in short order and will face Eva Lys who is having her best season yet at 23. She also received a further boost this week in the form of sponsorship from Porsche as she became an ambassador.

Jasmine Paolini defends a Roland Garros final points wise in short order.
A role previously held by Emma Raducanu as well as currently being held by Iga Swiatek. Lys faces a Paolini though who has Marc Lopez in tow who of course used to be coach of Rafael Nadal so it can go one of two ways.
Either it can give her a fresh boost or it'll take some time. The winner faces Niemeier or Siegemund so either way a German goes through. Ending the day is Emma Navarro.
Navarro has played on clay already this season albeit she of course has a huge weight of expectation in Charleston. So it is perhaps not the best gauge of form. She lost to Amanda Anisimova in the Quarter-Finals and will now head to Europe and faces Beatriz Haddad Maia.
On paper a tough tie but in reality perhaps not given that BHM has struggled for form for a while and was poor this past week at the Billie Jean King Cup so Navarro could come out a pretty comfortable winner. Also on Court One is Ekaterina Alexandrova v Liudmila Samsonova.
Sabalenka, Shnaider and Mirra Andreeva are all pencilled in for Wednesday to continue or begin their campaigns.
