Week. Earlier, the former world number and legendary tennis star Serena Williams
also attended the mega-event.
The Caracas-born is currently on an indefinite break from
tennis activities. She took that hiatus back in the summer of 2023. In a recent
interview, Muguruza announced that she is happy with her current routine and is
not really looking forward to resuming playing tennis at the highest level.
Muguruza is a two-time Grand Slam winner. She won her first
major title in 2016 when she lifted the French Open after beating the former
world number one Serena Williams in the final in straight sets with a score of
7-5, 6-4.
She then won the Wimbledon title in 2017 after beating
America’s Venus Williams in the final in straight sets with a score of 7-5,
6-0.
Other than that, Muguruza also finished as runner-up twice
in Grand Slams. She lost the final at Wimbledon in 2015 to Serena in straight sets
with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
She then suffered a
defeat in the final of the Australian Open in 2020 to America’s Sofia Kenin
with a score of 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
