Gauff continues stellar run by defeating the reigning Champion in Melbourne

After dispatching former Australian Open champions Williams in the 1st round and Cirstea in the second Gauff defeated the reigning champion Osaka

American phenom Cori Gauff has been familiar to the world fo tennis for quite some time now. Her spectacular victories against an ageing Venus Williams are well known. Her undeniable talent certainly guarantees her a stellar career but her round 3 matchups against reigning Champion Naomi Osaka. To her credit, she started off very well.
Serving wasn't an issue and she was much more composed making only 7 unforced errors compared to Osaka 14. She conveyed her only break point chance and it was enough to win the 1st set 6-3. She started out the 2nd set with a bang immediately breaking her opponents serve. However, she couldn't hang on a surrender her own serve in the following game.
The players traded a few games before Gauff managed to break her opponent's serve for the 3rd time in the match. She went on to win the next game without dropping a point to take a 5-3 lead. Osaka won the next game on her serve and it was Gauff's time. She didn't tremble and won it in style again not dropping a single point.
A spectacular display and a sign of majestic things to come in her career. Well done!
