Coco Gauff and Leylah Fernandez are teaming together this week in the doubles at BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells and dispatched of fifth seeds Demi Schuurs and Nicole Melichar-Martinez 6-3, 6-2 to reach the Quarter-Finals.
But as Gauff and Fernandez discussed during their post match on court interview, it was a late decision for them to join forces in the first place.
"It's going really well, we're playing really good tennis. I think the chemistry on court is really well, we're just having fun on court," said Fernandez post match.
"I think we're both enjoying it a lot and I had a lot of fun in my singles match today and just as much fun in my doubles match. Leylah is really fun to play with, I actually asked her last minute to play," said Gauff.
"I think I asked you Saturday. The funny thing was I practiced with her two days earlier and then two days later, I asked her if she wanted to play and here we are."
