Coco Gauff downed fellow teenager Xinyu Wang at the tennis event in Berlin avoiding the 3rd set by a late 2nd set fightback 6-0 6-4.
Gauff opened the match in fantastic fashion and pretty quickly fans started to wonder whether their ticket will be worth it. Wang tried but in the opening set of the match, there was simply nothing that worked properly. Gauff dropped only three points on her serve in the opening set while Wang won only 7 points on her serve at all in the opening set which was a bagel.
6-0 for Gauff with an early 40-0 lead on Wang's serve in the 2nd set as well. It seemed like Wang would bow down quickly but she didn't. She actually fought back in a pretty spectacular fashion showing a lot of heart. First she held her serve from 0-40 down. Then she broke Gauff for the 3-1 lead and held it for a while.
A 3rd set was looming but Gauff was determined to keep it in two. Upped her level a bit she exerted a lot of pressure on Wang and the Chinese player could not withstand it. She folded giving Gauff the break back 4-4. The American then added another break that closed out the match with 6-4. A bit of complication but marvellous fighting by both in the 2nd set.
