Camila Giorgi is set for her maiden WTA 1000 final on Sunday evening when she will take on Karolina Pliskova at the National Bank Open in Montreal.
This after downing Jessica Pegula in a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 win to face the Czech ace who saw off Aryna Sabalenka earlier in the evening to book her spot.
After claiming the opening set, Giorgi found herself under pressure for the first time in the tournament losing the second which was her first of the tournament.
But the Italian bounced back in style sweeping the final set 6-1 to advance to the biggest final of her career so far.
It could be construed as being advantage Giorgi going on recent form with the Italian winning in straight sets in Tokyo only two weeks ago. Will it be repeat or revenge?
