Grand Slam champions assemble for superb photo before Brisbane International albeit with notable omission

The Brisbane International line-up features a myriad of Grand Slam champions on the WTA side and in a superb photo shared on social media, they all came together to ring in the New Year.

Shared on Brisbane International's socials, Jelena Ostapenko, Victoria Azarenka, Aryna Sabalenka, Naomi Osaka, Sofia Kenin and Sloane Stephens were all smiles as they posed together. Albeit there was a glaring omission considering the player in question is playing in the tournament.

Osaka being a two-time Australian Open champion as well as Azarenka were the only two multiple winners with Ostapenko (Roland Garros), Sabalenka (currently Australian Open), Kenin (Australian Open) and Stephens (US Open) all currently being one-time winners.

Elena Rybakina was the glaring omission from the photos, with the Kazakh being the second seed in the tournament and a Wimbledon champion as well as a Grand Slam finalist in Melbourne.

Naomi Osaka is the lead attraction going into New Years Day though at the Brisbane International and will make her comeback at the tournament first up against Tamara Korpatsch. Stephens has already played and was victorious against Katerina Siniakova in the first round. Kenin will face Arina Rodionova on January 2nd, with Sabalenka and Azarenka both slated to face qualifiers. Ostapenko will face Camila Giorgi in Round Two.
