Halep eases past Dart to reach 3rd round in Melbourne

In-form playing world number 4, Simona Halep did not experience any major difficulties during her victory in Melbourne. The Romanian spent a little over an hour on the court to reach the third round at the 2020 Australian Open.

Previously, Halep defeated Brady in 2 sets. Now, it was the next two-set victory for the two-time Grand Slam champion. She has defeated Harriet Dart 6-2, 6-4 to set up a third-round meeting against Danielle Collins or Yulia Putintseva.

In the third round, she will be joined by the 9th seeded Kiki Bertens or the youngster Iga Swiatek who also managed their matches in just two sets. Experienced Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova was also victorious against Taylor Townsend and reached the third round. Camila Giorgi also joined 3rd round line-up when she defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-3, 6-1.
