Despite being one of the most marketable athletes on tour, Venus Williams recently joked about her lack of prize money from winning tournaments.
The former World No.1 partook in a Q&A session with her fans on Instagram, and poked fun at the fact she hasn't won any prize money when a fan questioned how the prize money is deposited in a player's personal account.
"Honestly, I don't know, haven't had any prize money in a while so..." Williams responded.
The seven-time Grand Slam champion last participated on tour at the ASB Classic in January, where she obtained a hamstring injury and has been sidelined since, missing the Australian Open. Williams won her last main draw title at the 2016 Taiwan Open.
Another fan inquired about her approach when facing match point, to which Williams said maintaining an aggressive mindset was her preferred option.
"Always go for it. Now going for it doesn't mean play a short that is ridiculous. You can play smart and go for it. So be smart, don't wait for it to come, take it," said the WTA icon.
