The weather conditions would prevail in Emma Raducanu's matchup against Camila Osorio in the Hobart International, with the score set in stone at 6-3 2-4 in favour of the former US Open with the conclusion set to take place tomorrow.
It was a frustrating end to what was emerging as a very competitive and engaging match for the Aussie crowd, who were watching on expectantly as night crept over the island of Tasmania. Unfortunately, so did the wet and rainy conditions, with play being suspended twice with the players patiently waiting for the green light.
It is currently stuck on red, with the conditions seemingly getting worse. In the end, the tough decision was made to cancel play for the day, with both Raducanu and Osorio set to continue their battle tomorrow.

Rain causes halt in play between Raducanu and Osorio

Both players were looking for the early advantage to see them take control in this tennis match. It would be the number one seed who won four points on the spin to break but saw her advantage immediately go up in smoke when Osorio fought back and instantly levelled it up. Not to worry for Raducanu, with a third consecutive break going her way before finally managing to hold on serve with the match starting to settle.
Raducanu found herself in a tricky situation where her opponent took a 0-40 lead. She was in danger of going back to square one, but found the quality at the right time to hold three times before finally moving within one of the set. It took her a few goes to seal the set, but she would eventually do it on her opponent's serve.
She was hoping to comfortably see this match out with no hiccups, but the 24-year-old was going to make her life very tricky. An almost replica of the first three games occurred, but it would be Osorio who would back up the breaks with a hold. She then broke to love, playing some aggressive and intimidating tennis that Raducanu was struggling to cope with.
The match, however, was starting to get interrupted by the rain, which was a risk with Hobart right on the coast. There were a few brief stoppages before Raducanu got one of the breaks back, responding to being broken to love by doing the same thing to make it 4-2. She was 15-30 down to the coughing Colombian before the umpire made the executive decision to halt the match for the time being and wait for the rain to pass by.
They returned for a grand total of three points, with the score at 40-40 before the rain came once again. The players headed for shelter for the second time, and would not come back out with it getting heavier. In the end, play was stopped for the day in what is bitter disappointment and hard luck to the crowd who were enjoying a thrilling match of tennis with more drama and stories set to emerge. It will be culminated in tomorrow's order of play, with the match following this between Magda Linette and Oksana Selekhmeteva also set to be re-arranged.
