America’s Jessica Pegula is hoping to use her US Open 2024 performances to keep her motivated for the upcoming Australian Open. The first Grand Slam of the next season is set to begin in less than 10 days where players from all over the world will participate to showcase their talent and secure the ultimate prize.

America’s Pegula will be one of the favourites to go all the way in Melbourne this year. That is because of her impressive performance in the last Grand Slam, which was the US Open, where she finished as the runner-up after losing to the reigning world number one Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 7-5.

Pegula has been recently quoted in a report where she talked about her objectives going into the Australian Open 2025. The 30-year-old stated that she wants to use her performances in the US Open as a motivation going into the upcoming mega-event.

"It's funny how it feels like so long ago, but also feels like last week at the same time," said Pegula. "Tennis is weird like that. It's definitely a motivation for me to want to do well this year and keep going for my goals and everything that I've set out for myself this year. It's still a nice, fresh memory I feel like in my mind. Hopefully it stays that way I think to keep the motivation going. The tournament here, the draw is really, really tough, so I think it will be good to test how my body's feeling.”

The reigning world number seven does not have a great record while playing at the Australian Open, where she has never managed to book her place in the semifinal or beyond. Her most impressive outing has been playing in the quarterfinals. She did that in 2021, 2022 and 2023, and on each occasion, she ended up on the losing side. Last year, Pegula lost in the second round to France’s Clara Burel in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-2.
